How does auto mode work on the Levoit Classic 300S?
A built-in sensor reads the room's relative humidity and the unit adjusts mist output to hold a target — Levoit's default band is 40–50%, and you can set your own. That is the feature that stops a strong humidifier fogging the windows.
Does it leave white dust?
Ultrasonic humidifiers turn whatever is in the water into mist, minerals included. With hard tap water you will see a fine white film on nearby surfaces. Distilled or demineralised water avoids it; Levoit also sells a filter accessory.
How long does the tank last?
Levoit states up to 60 hours from the 6 L tank on the lowest setting. On auto mode in a dry room, expect less; a night is comfortably covered.
Is it quiet?
Ultrasonic units are near-silent apart from a faint fan and the occasional drip; Levoit's sleep mode dims the display. It is quieter than an evaporative unit such as the Canopy.
Should I use essential oils in it?
The unit has a tray for them. We would not, in a bedroom: scented air overnight can irritate the airways of some people, and it adds a cleaning task. The humidifier does its job without it.
